Sleeper beds and walls are very much the new trends in outdoor spaces, the modern look contrasts against most materials, giving elegance and character to your garden.

Different types of sleepers will give you the feel you’re looking for, from modern to a more rustic look. Available in pinewood or oak, sleepers are highly versatile and perfect for retaining earth, building planting beds or even wooden steps and benches.

At STL Paving and landscaping we specialise in doing things properly and preparation is key to all sleeper work. Using heavy-duty timber lock bolts for increased strength, the sleepers are fixed to 4×4 posts which are concreted into the ground to a minimum depth of 600mm. Each post is spaced approximately 1 metre apart for maximum stability. 

All of the timber we use is pressure-treated and if the sleeper is in contact with soil, we will add polythene to the back, to stop any rot caused by dampness.
